Membership, Listings and Upgrades
Questions about joining, basic listings, enhanced listings and how long membership lasts.
Is there a cost to list my business?
Basic membership and a standard business profile are free for eligible businesses. Veteran Owned Business also offers optional enhanced listings, sponsorships and other promotional opportunities for members who want greater visibility.
Our goal remains the same: maintain a comprehensive directory that people can use to discover and support businesses owned by veterans, active duty military members, reservists, National Guard members and military spouses.
Can I start with a free listing and upgrade later?
Yes. Many members begin with a free listing and upgrade later. For enhanced listing or sponsorship information, call (877) 862-5478 or use the available upgrade options after signing into your myVOB account.
How long does the application take to complete?
Most business owners can complete the basic application in only a few minutes. Taking a little extra time to provide accurate contact information, a clear business description and appropriate categories helps reduce delays during review.
When does my membership or profile end?
A basic listing can remain active as long as the business is operating and continues to meet Veteran Owned Business eligibility requirements.
A profile may be removed or updated if the business closes, changes ownership, no longer qualifies, becomes publicly owned or if the member asks for removal.
Who uses Veteran Owned Business?
Veteran Owned Business is used by consumers, fellow business owners, corporations, nonprofit organizations, news outlets, government agencies, prime contractors and other organizations looking to connect with the military business community.
The directory includes tens of thousands of member businesses and reaches a supporter network of more than 400,000 people.
You can also view examples of businesses, organizations and government agencies that have used or supported VOB .
Approval and Verification
Every application is reviewed to help maintain the accuracy and integrity of the directory.
How long does profile approval take?
Approval times vary based on application volume and how easily the business can be verified. Many complete applications are reviewed within a few business days. Enhanced listings are generally prioritized.
Incomplete information, incorrect contact details, unclear eligibility or inappropriate categories may delay approval.
What can I do to help speed up approval?
Make sure your application is accurate, complete and written using normal capitalization. Your business website, LinkedIn profile, Facebook page or other public business presence should clearly support the information provided in your application.
Why did someone from VOB call to verify my profile?
Veteran Owned Business reviews applications before publishing them. When information cannot be quickly confirmed through public sources, a representative may call to verify ownership, eligibility and profile details.
Verification helps protect legitimate members and reduces misleading or fraudulent listings.
Why has my profile not been approved yet?
Common causes of approval delays include:
- All caps or all lowercase text: Use standard capitalization for your company name and description.
- An inaccurate company name: Enter the actual legal or commonly used business name, not a keyword-stuffed slogan.
- Irrelevant categories: Choose categories that accurately represent the products or services you provide.
- Incorrect contact details: Double-check your website, email address, phone number, address and company spelling.
- Eligibility cannot be confirmed: Make sure public information supports the ownership or military affiliation claimed in the application.
What if I cannot find the right category?
Browse the available main categories and their subcategories first. If no appropriate category exists, use the custom category request area in the application and describe the missing category as clearly as possible.
Live Profile Help
Help with profile links, maps, contact details and information shown after your listing goes live.
Why is my website link not working?
The website may be temporarily unavailable, the URL may have been entered incorrectly or your profile may contain an outdated address.
Sign into myVOB to review your listing information or contact support and include your business name and the correct website address.
Why is my address or map location incorrect?
Map information is generated from the address associated with the profile. First confirm that the street address, city, state and ZIP code are correct in your listing.
When the directory address is correct but the map pin is inaccurate, the underlying map provider may need time to update or correct the location.
How do I update information on my profile?
Sign into your myVOB account to review available profile-management options. To report incorrect information, first find the business profile , then use the report-error link shown on that specific listing.
Leads and Contact Emails
How customers, buyers and other visitors contact businesses through Veteran Owned Business.
How do people contact my business?
Visitors can use the contact information shown on your profile. They may also submit an inquiry through the profile contact form.
Profile inquiries are delivered through VeteranOwnedBusiness.com, but the visitor's email address is placed in the Reply-To field so you can respond directly by clicking Reply.
Once your profile is live, submit a test inquiry to yourself. If it does not arrive, check your spam or junk folder and make sure your account email address is correct.
Why should I keep my email and phone number current?
Consumers, corporations, prime contractors, government buyers and other organizations use Veteran Owned Business to locate potential vendors and service providers. An outdated email address or phone number can cause your business to miss legitimate opportunities.
Scams, Solicitations and Privacy
Important information about third-party sales calls, endorsements and member information.
Does VOB sell or give away member information?
Veteran Owned Business does not sell or give away member information lists. Public business information shown on profiles can still be found and used by third parties, just as information on a company website or public social profile can be found.
What if someone claims to be endorsed by or associated with VOB?
Veteran Owned Business does not automatically endorse outside companies simply because they found a business through the directory.
Some legitimate organizations contact VOB while looking for veteran owned suppliers, partners, event participants, employees or charitable support. That does not mean every unsolicited offer is affiliated with or endorsed by VOB.
Report questionable claims through the Contact Support page.
